COMMUNITY ENERGY RESOURCE ADEQUACY MODEL (CERAM)

Transform your buildings into clean and flexible grid resources

CERAM is the most comprehensive Energy Modeling & Management tool for Grid-Interactive Efficient Building Communities.

The CERAM solution enables communities to run on a cleaner, more cost-effective and resilient energy infrastructure by deploying a suite of deep machine learning-enabled energy system  design and management tools for Grid-Interactive Efficient Buildings (GEBs). CERAM addresses the complex interactions between equipment, building, occupants, and the power grid in real time.

MICROGRID INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO GENERATION & RISK MANAGEMENT ADVISOR (MIPA)

Meet your resilience needs with an optimal microgrid system placement, design, and control strategy

MIPA facilitates the planning, design and implementation process, targeting higher profit margins and reducing development, deployment, and construction challenges while mitigating implementation risks.

MIPA enables a broad set of users including non-technical decision makers, planners and business development specialists to place and generate an optimal distributed energy resource (DER) portfolio tailored to their objectives.

ENAMP

Maximize your utility electric panel’s capacity to meet all of your electricity needs without costly upgrades.

ENAMP learns residents’ electric use habits to identify savings such as the cheapest and greenest time to charge cars and provides real-time visibility about energy use to identify appliances that are working harder or less efficiently and might be close to failure BEFORE they fail. ENAMP can remotely turn off appliances and lights not in use or alert residents to do so to help them visualize their electricity use in real-time and identify how to optimize consumption and generation to save money, increase available amps, and reduce carbon footprints.

PROJECTS

Featured Projects

Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Smart Campus

At the core of our credentials is the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) campus microgrid, a groundbreaking national model for the Smart City of the future at a smaller scale. Our team supported the IIT campus in implementing a multi-level strategy to meet its economic, environmental, and resilience sustainability goals. This $12M project generated a one-time $5M savings and annual utility cost savings of $1.3M. Currently, the IIT microgrid is being used by cities, utilities, industries, and venture capitalists as a testbed to evaluate the performance of emerging energy technologies.

Client: Illinois Institute of Technology Galvin for Electricity Innovations

Middle East Technical University (METU) Smart Campus

The GEC team’s first-of-its-kind Smart City transformation strategy was applied at Middle East Technical University (METU). Our team empowered the campus with an integrated and interdependent cyber-physical infrastructure plan, unlocking additional values ignored by traditional energy master planning approaches.

Client: United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)

Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) Community Microgrid

The GEC team supported the Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) in building a smart energy transportation system. Our partners, Willdan Group, Michigan State University Transportation Research Center, and GEC developed the first-of-its-kind, interconnected WRTA-Worcester School District electrification plan. This plan introduces how WRTA and the School District can meet their energy and transportation goals through microgrid deployments and bus fleet electrification.

Client: Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC)

Tule River Smart Reservation Planning

GEC, Wampworx, and the Tule River Tribe are developing a smart reservation plan incorporating the Tribe’s climate adaptation and sovereign resiliency mitigation goals. This plan will define reservation-wide smart energy, water, transportation, and information and communication technologies (ICT) strategies. The GEC team has collaborated with the Tribe, its local agencies, and Southern California Edison (SCE) to implement the Smart Street Lighting and Community Microgrid projects.

Client: California Energy Commission (CEC) & California Strategic Growth Council

TECHNOLOGY

One platform to Build Unlimited Solutions

Our ENCODE technology platform works in tandem with the interdependent Cyber-Physical Infrastructure sectors model, and your bright ideas, to identify effective energy projects. We utilize important environmental and socio-economic metrics to measure the effectiveness of potential energy projects at any location. Our scenario-based planning strategies empower clients to make informed investment decisions in their energy projects.
